OPENING NIGHT – “ROMEO & JULIET”

Posted on Updated on

At the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum this  Saturday Night, June 11th.

It’s a provocative production set in East Jerusalem.  ROMEO, a Palestinian youth, falls in love with Israeli, JULIET.   And the sparks do fly as the first Botanicum productions in our, “SEASON ON THE EDGE”.   Directed fearlessly by Ellen Geer the action takes full advantage of the theater’s outdoor venue.  The fights, the Masked Party, the balcony scene, and of course four scenes taking place in Friar/Mufti’s Mosque, all tell the story of “Two families, both alike in dignity”.

In this production, my part, “Friar Lawrence” has been turned into, “MUFTI ZAMAN”, Romeo’s teacher and mentor.  I get the pleasure of sharing the stage with some great young talents in my first Shakespearean role in thirty years.

Come see and enjoy a beautiful evening with the Bard of Avon, under the stars in rustic Topanga Canyon, CA.
